Welcome to the tenth issue of Lindsays life.
At the start of 2015 we set ourselves a target of investing 200 hours of volunteering to support various local and national charities and community projects. The initiative was launched to celebrate our bicentenary and we are thrilled to announce that the initial target of 200 hours was exceeded. Our people embraced the opportunity and over 350 working hours were invested to help causes that matter to us.
Although 2016 is now well and truly full-fledged, and the time for New Year resolutions is past, it is never too late in the calendar to resolve to do things better. In this issue of Lindsays Life we offer suggestions on how you can organise your legal and financial matters to make your life easier now and your family’s life easier in the future.
Other suggestions on how to do things better include articles on using mediation to handle family or business disputes or handling a divorce. Charity governance remains a topical issue and we examine what that means and the responsibilities that trustees must take on. There are legal healthcheck ideas if you have a small or medium sized business and also advice on how to deal with issues surrounding the introduction of the National Living Wage which becomes mandatory in April this year.
Eilish McColgan is picturing a bright future after months of recovery from her ankle injury and she tells us about the important images she uses as motivation.
In November 2015, we welcomed two new partners, Brent Haywood to our Dispute Resolution team in Edinburgh and Grant Johnson, who joined RSB Lindsays Private Client team in Dundee. Our new partners and staff will support clients across many aspects of their lives in 2016, and we introduce some more new faces in the magazine.
Enjoy!
