Grant Johnson, a Partner and committed member of Lindsays curling team, slid the first stone down the ice at Dundee Ice Arena as one of Dundee and Angus’ most competitive winter sports starts another year for the 12 teams involved.
This is the second year that we have supported the league and our own team continue to play in the competition as part of Broughty Ferry Curling Club.
Grant is among the nine competing players from the firm and said: “It’s great to get the season started. We’ve been really looking forward to getting going.
“For us as colleagues, curling together is a great way for us to enjoy sport. For the firm, our sponsorship of the Phin League is just one of the ways in which we work to be part of the wider community in Tayside.
“We would certainly encourage other businesses across the region to get behind curling locally in any way they can so it can continue to offer more opportunities to new players and develop.”
Broughty Ferry Curling Club secretary Alastair Scott is also one of the league organisers.
He said: “The teams are certainly pleased to be getting going. All of the signs are for a really competitive winter on the ice.
“We are really grateful to Lindsays for continuing its sponsorship of the league this season.”
The Opening Bonspiel, the Dundee curling season’s launch event, was held at Dundee Ice Arena on Monday 7 October.
