Clare Wilson, Senior Associate in our Commercial Property team recently advised Sixco Group - owners of Six by Nico - on its lease deal ahead of the launch of its new Beat 6 charitable venture in Bearsden, near Glasgow. The opening of this new restaurant where people ‘dine to donate’ has been hailed as a major boost for local neighbourhood investment.
The venue has brought what was an empty former restaurant building back to life, created a new attraction and is supporting a charity.
All of the profits from Beat 6 - at 149 Milngavie Road - will go directly to Beatson Cancer Charity, which supports cancer patients and their families who are being treated at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.
Clare works with a range of businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors and she said: “In many ways, what Nico and his team are doing with Beat 6 is unique. They are also demonstrating the art of the possible, where the community and a charity wins.
“Despite the clear challenges faced across the hospitality sector, from the impact of the rising cost of living to staff shortages, they have found a way not only to invest but to also support a great cause.
“It’s a real boost for Bearsden and Milngavie, but also shows what can be achieved in other local neighbourhoods when operators unlock a good concept at the right price point, while also being adaptable to change and challenges.
“Beat 6/Six by Nico seems to have got it spot-on. It’s this type of thinking that will help create better places, as well as reminding us all that there remains an appetite for investment.”
The 48-seat restaurant will invite customers to 'Dine to Donate,' and will offer a monthly rotating four-course set menu that will provide guests with an interactive and unique dining experience. Beat 6 will also offer a unique private dining space for events and fundraising dinners.
Restaurateur Nico Simeone, his wife Valentina and their family want to help Beatson Cancer Charity help others in the same way it helped them. Valentina is one of thousands of Scots who have benefited from the Beatson's world-class treatment.
Six by Nico and their customers have raised more than £350,000 for Beatson Cancer Charity through a series of team events across their 11 locations in England, Scotland, and Ireland since the groups partnership's inception in 2021.
Nico Simeone from Sixco Group said: "We, like many others, have a special place in our hearts for the Beatson, and we will be eternally grateful for everything they do on a daily basis to help change the lives of those affected by cancer. Our new Bearsden neighbourhood location will continue to raise vital funds for the charity and the staff to whom we owe so much, while also giving our team the opportunity to be a part of such an important cancer awareness journey.
“Our donations of over £350,000 to date are just the beginning, and Beat 6's new home in Bearsden is one of the most exciting fundraising initiatives we're ever been a part of."
