A team of fundraisers from Lindsays Glasgow office recently spent a day promoting The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice (PPWH) ‘Brick by Brick Foundations Appeal Draw 2015: Dig Deep for double the dividend’ to shoppers at St Enoch Centre.
The team’s involvement was organised as part of Lindsays 200, our year-long charity initiative to mark our 200th anniversary. Throughout the day, eleven members of our staff took two hour shifts at their temporary shopping centre stand, encouraging people to donate to this worthy cause. Sharon McCann, a secretary in our litigation team, even donned the Harvey the Hospice Heart costume and entertained everyone with some dance moves to the amusement of onlookers.
The money raised will help create the brand new, purpose built home to bring the best possible hospice care to the people of Glasgow now and in the future. The Hospice’s existing home in Carlton Place started life as one townhouse 32 years ago, and although it has been expanded and adapted over the years, new facilities are now required to continue providing their ‘gold standard’ care.
The Foundations Appeal on behalf of PPWH ran all last week (22 June – 26 June 2015) and has been a terrific success. Joyce Ross, Senior Community Fundraiser at PPWH commented on Lindsays team efforts: “We are delighted to announce our fundraising total of £1,238.38 which may also be subject to additional match funding. “We had an absolutely fabulous week and your team were superb! Sharon is definitely up there as the top Harvey of the week!”
Collette Harper, Solicitor in our Commercial Property team, and one of the Lindsays co-ordinators for the project, added: “It was very rewarding to be involved in supporting such a worthwhile cause. PPWH offer a great Family Support Service which is invaluable when a member of your family is affected by a life-limiting illness. They also offer a bereavement service for children and young people and have fantastic on-site facilities for patients to use. “PPWH make life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for people dealing with very difficult situations.”
