The most eagerly-anticipated occasion in the cross country calendar delivered another superb day of racing action and inclusive atmosphere at Callendar Park in Falkirk on Saturday 22 February.
In our eleventh year supporting the Scottish Athletics Cross Country Season, we are delighted that this year’s event once again drew over 2,200 participants, and more impressively, 100 Scottish clubs were represented – an incredible testament to the sport’s reach across Scotland. Well over 3,000 enthusiastic supporters cheered on the athletes on a blustery but otherwise beautiful morning for this historic event.
Peter Jardine, Head of Communications at Scottish Athletics confirmed some of the key winners:
“Scotland international Lynn McKenna claimed the biggest win of her athletics career in the Lindsays National XC Champs – then thanked the packed crowds around the course at Falkirk.

“Support from further afield helped inspire Logan Rees to his second Senior Scottish title in this event – his girlfriend was over from California – as he made amends for losing his shoe in the mud at Liverpool in November.
“Individual medals for Shetland AAC at U20 and Stornoway RAC at U17 added to the event’s depth and atmosphere as runners took Trains, Planes and Automobiles (and Ferries) to be there. Over 900 Seniors finished the 10k of cross country action with the fields including Olympian Freya Ross from local club Falkirk Victoria and athletes from U13 to M80.”
As well as the medal wins celebrated on the day, the Lindsays Trophy competition also reaches a finale with finisher numbers assigned to each club (across three event over the season) determining finishing places across three tiers. Final numbers are now being counted and the three clubs winning a Lindsays Trophy will be announced in due course.
Will any of last year’s champions hold onto their 2024 Lindsays Trophy?

A huge thanks also goes to the host club Falkirk Victoria Harriers, other club marshals, volunteers, the Road Running and Cross Country Commission and the Officials.
As part of our collaboration with Scottish Athletics, we designed a benefits package for local clubs and member of Scottish Athletics to support investment back into the club network.
