The Lindsays National XC is coming up on Saturday 23 February at Callendar Park, Falkirk where over 2450 competitors are on the start-lists.
The Lindsays trophy is once again being contested in the final event of three across the main cross country national championship season. It is awarded to the club with the highest aggregate number of finishers at the Lindsays National XC Relays Championships, the Lindsays National Short Course XC Championships and the Lindsays National XC Championships. At the top of the current table, Giffnock North AC are out in front from the 2018 winners, Garscube Harriers. Giffnock, which was the winning club in both 2016 and 2017, have had 168 finishers in the two events and Garscube had 147.
As well as commending all the athletics clubs and coaches for their responses and commitment to the event, Mark Munro said; “'Lindsays came on board as sponsors of the Cross Country Season some five years ago with a commitment to try and help us grow participation. Their support has enabled us to improve a couple of aspects, bringing in an initiative like the Lindsays Trophy, and helped us raise the profile of the National XC in particular.”
Following the success of last year, scottishathletics have confirmed that once again drone footage will be taken throughout the day. In partnership with Vincosport, there will be highlights taken from all ten races which you can follow here.
The organisers at scottishathletics have also published the start lists for Saturday which can be found on the website.
