One of the most eagerly-awaited events of the year is almost here. The Lindsays National XC is coming up on Saturday 24 February at Callendar Park, Falkirk where over 2250 competitors are on the start-lists.
Ian Beattie, Chief Operating Officer at Lindsays and Chairman of scottishathletics comments: 'It is great to be associated with an event that is so inclusive and that is such a high quality sporting event'.
The Lindsays trophy is once again being contested in the final event of three across the main cross country national championship season. It is awarded to the club with the highest aggregate number of finishers at the Lindsays National XC Relays Championships, the Lindsays National Short Course XC Championships and the Lindsays National XC Championships.
Edinburgh AC was the first club to win the trophy in 2015, then Giffnock North AAC won in 2016 and 2017. After the first two events over the 2017-2018 season, Giffnock North AAC are out in front again with Garscube Harriers and then Edinburgh AC in 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The start lists for Saturday have been published by the organisers at scottishathletics.
This year, as well as the race distances being equalised for all age groups, another change is the heightened coverage of the event. Drone footage is being produced for the first time and the team at scottishathletics and Vinco are producing an ‘as live’ online broadcast on Saturday evening at 7pm – the live broadcast can be found here.
We are all looking forward to another challenging, yet terrific family day for everyone involved in athletics.
