At the beginning of every year there are usually stories in the papers about the first working Monday after New Year being 'Divorce Day', the most popular day in the year for people to consult a lawyer about starting divorce proceedings.
However American research from a couple of years ago suggested that March was actually the peak month for divorce. Whilst we are sceptical about these sorts of statistics our own experience does confirm these findings. Many people do start to make life-changing decisions over the Christmas holidays, but may wait for a month or two to let the dust settle before embarking on the process of taking advice about divorce.
Of course, whatever the time of year it’s important that you take the right advice if you are contemplating a separation. It is important to seek advice from an expert who can help to guide you through the legal issues, explain the different options open to you and give you practical advice tailored to your family’s situation.
We offer a fixed price package for this preliminary advice and our family lawyers can make sure that the decisions you make at this difficult and distressing time are informed and that you have all the support you need.
