COM DEV is a Canadian listed aerospace company that manufacture technology which is on board in over 80% of all commercial communications satellites ever launched. It recently acquired 50 year old Edinburgh-based microwave firm, MESL Microwave, which developed highly sought after components for the radar, communications, defence and aerospace industries.
The Lindsays’ team was led by Partner, David Lindgren and Senior Associate, Alastair Smith, who provided the legal due diligence on the deal and worked with Gardiner Roberts LLP, Toronto, and in-house legal counsel to successfully conclude the £12.8m transaction on 31 December 2014.
David Lindgren commented: “Lindsays are delighted to be working with this world-leading aerospace engineering company as they build upon their substantial growth within the Scottish and UK market over the last 30 years.”
This acquisition provides COM DEV with greater access to the aerospace market with microwave component products which complement their product offering in the space market.
